Shopify attribution in Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT which sources, affiliates and coupon codes bring your Shopify orders, and what to scale, hold or stop.

OneLence brings Shopify attribution into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any other MCP client. Install the OneLence Connect app on your store, add the OneLence MCP server to your AI app, and ask where your orders come from. Each answer comes from your own data: paid orders tied to the visit, source, campaign, affiliate partner and coupon code behind them, with what to scale, hold or stop and how sure OneLence is.

Set it up

  1. Install OneLence Connect from the Shopify App Store, or choose Shopify when you create your OneLence workspace.
  2. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes, choose Edit theme, open App embeds, turn on OneLence Connect and save. Visit your store once so the first visit arrives.
  3. Add the OneLence MCP server to your AI app. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector, and paste https://mcp.onelence.com. For ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code, follow the ChatGPT or coding agents guide.
  4. Ask: "Where did last week's orders come from?"

The walkthrough with screenshots is in the Shopify integration guide.

What you can ask

Ask your assistantWhat you get back
"Where did last week's orders come from?"Visitors, orders and conversion rate by source, channel and campaign
"How did the store do last week compared with the week before?"Visitors, orders, conversion rate and observed revenue, each with its change, and the top sources
"Which affiliates and coupon codes brought orders this month?"Partners with their referral and coupon codes, clicks, orders and conversion rate
"Show me the last 20 orders and how each was attributed."Each order with its time, value and currency, the attribution method, and the affiliate and coupon behind it
"What should we focus on this week?"What deserves attention, and which sources and partners to scale, hold or stop, with the evidence and what is still missing
"Did visitors from ChatGPT or Perplexity buy anything?"Visitors from AI assistants and the orders they placed (Premium)
"Find new affiliate partners for the store."Sites and creators found in search and backlink research, ranked by fit with your store
"We started a 20% off sale today. Log it."A summary to confirm. Once you agree, OneLence records the change, so you can ask later what followed
"Is tracking working on the store?"Visits, events and orders from the last few minutes, with what to check when nothing arrived

Affiliate commissions checked against your orders

If your store runs affiliates on UpPromote, Awin or Impact, OneLence checks each network's commission report against your Shopify orders. Upload the CSV export from each network under Affiliates → Reconcile commissions in OneLence. It flags orders that more than one network claims, claims on cancelled or refunded orders, sale amounts that don't match the order, and orders it can't find. Then it suggests which commissions to keep, reject or review before you pay partners. This part runs in the OneLence app, not in chat. How OneLence tracks partners from every network and decides which claim to keep is on the affiliate tracking page.

Shopify's own connector, or OneLence?

Shopify's free plugin for ChatGPT and connector for Claude answer questions about your Shopify data, such as sales, orders and customers, and can also manage products, inventory and discounts. They suit running the store from chat. OneLence answers a different question: which sources, partners and assistants bring the orders, and what to do about each one.

Analytics suites such as Triple Whale and Northbeam also offer MCP servers on their own plans. See how OneLence compares with Triple Whale and Northbeam.

The OneLence pixel follows the consent choice your store collects through Shopify's customer privacy settings: it sends events only when the visitor allows analytics, and it identifies visitors by pseudonymous IDs. Visitors that AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity send to your store are recorded like any other visitor.

Frequently asked questions

Is OneLence the same as Shopify's own connector for Claude or ChatGPT?

No. Shopify's free plugin for ChatGPT and connector for Claude work with your Shopify data, such as sales, orders, products and customers, and they can also change the store. OneLence ties each paid order to the visit, source, affiliate partner and coupon code behind it, says which sources and partners to scale, hold or stop, and adds your affiliate networks, other sites and Google Search Console. It can't change your store, so you can use both.

Is there a hosted Shopify MCP server that doesn't need an access token?

Yes. OneLence Connect is a Shopify App Store app, so you install it from Shopify admin instead of creating a custom app and an Admin API token. The MCP server runs at https://mcp.onelence.com and you sign in with OAuth, so nothing runs on your computer and no token sits in a config file.

What does OneLence read from my store?

Paid orders with their value, currency and discount codes, and storefront activity from the app embed and pixel: page views, product views, add to cart and, if you turn them on, checkout starts. It can also count new customer accounts. The app asks Shopify for read access to orders, customers and customer events, plus permission to add its pixel.

Can Claude or ChatGPT change my store through OneLence?

No. OneLence reads orders and storefront activity, and your products, prices, discounts, orders and customers stay as they are. Inside OneLence, an assistant can log a change or define a conversion event, and it shows you a summary first and saves only after you confirm.

Will OneLence's order totals match Shopify's?

They answer different questions. OneLence's source reports count the paid online orders it can tie to a visit on your store, from the day you connect the app, while Shopify's totals also include point-of-sale and draft orders. For commission checks, OneLence reads the last 60 days of orders from Shopify.

Which Claude and ChatGPT plans can connect OneLence?

Claude adds custom connectors on every plan, with one on the Free plan, and on Team and Enterprise an Owner adds OneLence first. ChatGPT connects it through developer mode, which OpenAI offers on Pro, where apps can only read, and on Business, Enterprise and Edu, where an admin turns it on. Cursor and other MCP clients work too.

Which OneLence plan do I need?

Installing OneLence Connect is free. Asking about orders, sources and affiliates works on every OneLence plan and in the 7-day free trial. Visitors from AI assistants, bot traffic and SEO opportunities need the Premium or Scale plan.
